Rangers International Attacker, Shedrack Asiegbu Scores Stunner Goal In 4-0 Win Over Niger Tornadoes
Shedrack Asiegbu netted his first Rangers International Football Club goal this season as his side claimed a 4-0 league win over Niger Tornadoes in the Nigeria Professional Football League matchday four.
Asiegbu produced an awesome finish in the second half, following an amazing pill driver strike from outside the box in the 73rd minutes to extend their lead by three goals.
Kenechukwu Agu opened the scoring for the Flying Antelopes in the 58th minutes after converting from the spot following a quiet first half in Nnewi. He then got his second in the 70th minutes to out the lead beyond the reach of the visitors.
It was Shedrack Asiegbu’s magnificent strike three minutes later that put the final nail on the coffin before frontman, Christian Nnaji completed the route with a cool finish in the 89th minutes to make it 4-0.
Hassan Abdallah’s side have now won two out of their four league games this season, losing one and drawing one.
“At last the game ended well for us,” Asiegbu told Lodgexpress during a post-game press conference.
“We had a tough start at halftime because of the tactics they deployed, they swam the box and made it tough for us to penetrate. They continued that way again in the second half but it was already late as the Coach had instructed us on what to do to break their stronghold.
“We then took advantage, saw the spaces and penetrated it and it resulted in the goals. A clean sheet too on the afternoon shows how good we performed.”
“When you get a goal early in the game, it reduces the pressure and makes it easier playing in front of your home fans.” The attacker added.
Reacting to his amazing goal, Asiegbu said;
“It is one of my best goals so far. Strikes like that don’t really occur frequently and when it happens, it delights you. I dedicate the goal to God almighty, He gave me everything I needed to score the goal and I look forward to scoring more goals for Rangers this season”.
Their matchday 5 comes up on Sunday and it’s an away trip to Kwara United. They currently occupy the 3rd position on the log with 7 points from 4 games played and are levelled on points with defending champions Akwa United
