Professional diver: Former Chelsea star labelled a ‘born diver’ by Jose Mourinho
Jose Mourinho has described former Chelsea forward, Pedro as a ‘born diver’, following the goalless draw between AS Roma and Lazio.
Roma are currently seventh on the Serie A table after what was a very poor start to the 2023-24 season, while Lazio are three places behind the Europa League finalists, despite just a point separating the two sides.
Critics have come down hard on Mourinho, who managed Chelsea in two different spells in the past, because of his overly defensive approach to games, although the Portuguese has insisted that his decision to be careful with Pedro is because the former Barcelona and Chelsea star is a diver.
“I didn’t want to leave Mancini alone with Pedro,” said Mourinho.
“I needed Karsdorp to stay and help him.
“Pedro is a fantastic player but he is a born diver, an excellent swimmer, he dives into the pool just beautifully.”
Mourinho and Pedro have previously worked together during their time at Chelsea. In fact, it was the Roma boss who signed him from Barcelona back in 2015, so it’s surprising he would speak like this about his own ex-player.
