‘He’s a very talented player’ Caicedo heaps praise on Chelsea teammate

Moises Caicedo has praised Chelsea teammate, Cole Palmer as ‘a very talented player and good penalty taker’, following his impressive strike in the 4-4 draw against Manchester City on Sunday.

Palmer stepped up in the 95th minute to strike a late penalty for Chelsea, who had fallen behind to a deflected Rodri effort in the 84th minute.

The 21-year-old showed calm nerves to put the ball past the diving Ederson, and level the scores for Chelsea, who are now 10th on the Premier League table.

It was Palmer’s fourth penalty for Chelsea after his deadline day transfer from Manchester City, and Caicedo has now revealed that he is impressed with how well the winger has blended into his new club.

“We trust Cole very much. He’s a very talented player and a very good penalty-taker, so we were all very confident when he stepped up,” said Caicedo.

“He is showing his best form at the moment and proving just how good a player he is. We are very happy for Cole and very happy he is playing so well for Chelsea.”

Palmer recently received his first call-up to the senior England national team, and he’ll be hoping to impress Gareth Southgate to stake a claim for a place at the upcoming 2024 European Championship.
