Harry Redknapp totally not impressed with 22-year-old Chelsea player, not at all
It is fair to say that former Premier League manager Harry Redknapp is not too impressed with what he has seen from Mykhailo Mudryk in a Chelsea shirt.
Mykhailo Mudryk‘s form has been much better this season, but Harry Redknapp has said in a column for The Sun that the winger needs to improve his understanding of the game.
He really struggled after making the move from Shakhtar Donetsk to Chelsea in January, failing to score a goal for the Blues last term.
However, in the current campaign, Mudryk has already managed to find the back of the net twice in the Premier League, including against Arsenal.
Mykhailo Mudryk needs to learn the game
Redknapp thinks Mauricio Pochettino still has a lot of work to do with Mudryk.
In his column for The Sun, the former Tottenham Hotspur boss said: “Poch certainly needs to work on Mykhailo Mudryk. The lad clearly has a load of pace but needs to learn the game. But you’d have thought for nearly £90 million he would do already. And this is another issue.”
Mykhailo Mudryk will become a smarter player
Mudryk is still just 22 years of age, so it is not a surprise that there are aspects of the game that he needs to develop a better understanding of.
That should come with more experience, and working under a coach as good as Pochettino should also help.
At least the Ukrainian has shown some improvement on the pitch. There is a bit more of a threat to go with his pace and dribbling.
Mudryk is now getting into better areas. It was his bit of play that led to Conor Gallagher’s shot over the weekend that resulted in Nicolas Jackson getting a tap in. More of that, and the former Shakhtar man could be a very useful player for Pochettino this season.
The fact that he is quick already makes him a good wide man to have. On the counter, he can be a weapon for Chelsea. Now it is just about consistency, putting everything together and becoming a more intelligent footballer.
